This week a few of the sophomore and junior animation students had an exciting experience to learn modeling and animation techniques from the pros at the Vancouver Film School. The students attended a week long webinar here at SWCTA, livestreaming with other schools and students in Canada. Global learning!
Francois van Eden focused on Animation as a career and in 2004 and began working at Rainmaker Entertainment (formerly Mainframe Entertainment). He spent 8 years working for Rainmaker and refined his skills as a modeler and texture artist. Francois resigned from Rainmaker in the winter of 2012 to focus on full time teaching at VFS. Francois show the students multiple shortcuts and modeling tips to become more efficient modelers while they created the Steam Punk Bike.

Brett Vanderkist has worked as an animator since 2003. Originally trained in traditional animation, Brett transitioned to Flash animation with his first commercial project at Atomic Cartoons (Atomic Betty TV series). Brett broke down the walk cycle for the students over a 2 day period to help them create an animation using Maya.
